| LSAT - study technique and Powerscore
Hey everyone, I took the LSAT in Sept, and alas, didn't do so well! I was pretty disappointed, but not too surprised given i was working alot of hours at work and finding myself trying to study on my own. Does anyone else have suggestions for how to carve out time when you're working a full time job and balancing outside commitments? I find even when i cut down commitments to a minimum, I still realistically can only get in about 2-3 hours a night max to study and sometimes on weekends i get more, if i'm not traveling to some family function. I have a feeling Thanksgiving break will be a great time for me to crack the books.
Anyways, i've called Powerscore to set up private tutoring for a few sessions to get me on track with logic games. Anybody else kind of freeze up on the LSAT when they got to some of the harder questions? I found i wasn't too confident with the setup, even though i studied Kaplan 180's most difficult set ups and descriptions of why they were done that way.
Is it possible some people are just better at 'getting' those kinds of questions or is it reasonable to think you can teach someone with enough practice and time how to master those games? I always struggled with word problems in math class, but never had problems with reading or analyzing an argument.
Thanks for any suggestions! If anyone can tell me more about Powerscore and their experience with tutoring or their classes, that would be great. I'm also looking to apply to several schools in Chicago and one in Boston, Northeastern University. Does anyone have experience applying to their programs and finding it difficult without getting into the 160's on the LSAT? My best hope at this point is to get 160-165 but i'd be happy with 155, since that's significantly higher than where it's at now.
