The possible subjects on the TN bar exam are as follows:
1. Constitutional law (United States and Tennessee).
2. Criminal law (substantive and procedural).
3. Contracts.
4. Torts.
5. Property (real and personal).
6. Evidence.
7. Civil procedure (United States and Tennessee).
8. Business organizations (including agency, partnerships and corporations).
9. Commercial transactions (Articles 1, 2, 3, 6 and 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code).
10. Wills and estates.
11. Domestic relations or personal status (husband and wife, parent and child, marriage and divorce, etc.).
12. Professional responsibility.
13. Restitution and remedies.
14. Conflicts of law.
The
BarBri essay book contains the TN essay questions for the past 17 or so years and
BarBri's model answers. The law examiners board does not, as far as I know, release any answers, so you have to understand that
BarBri's shot at it may not actually be what the law examiners are looking for. However, most are fairly close. It's best to have an understanding of the black letter law in each of these areas plus any significant Tennessee distinctions.
