I took CA Bar Style's course for the July 2011 CBEX and found the course to be very organized and focused on personal attention. I don't think the course will work for everyone, but I do think it will work for those that want a great deal of personal guidance and structure. I found previous courses to be all over the place and I never had anyone really pay attention to my particular weaknesses. I ended up passing after four other attempts and I definitely believe that the program (I took the unlimited grading one) gave me the edge I needed. Shana Karpeles was so sincere in her guidance, and really made sure I was following my schedule and understanding how to write for the exam, which I never could grasp before. When I sat for the exam I felt very prepared, and pretty much knew I passed when I walked out. I highly would recommend her course to those looking for something different than a cold corporate company. Good Luck!

I hired Steve Zikman The Strategic Bar Coach™ for unlimited MBEs and essays after I failed the CA bar exam on my first attempt. Initially I was a bit skeptical to sign up for telephonic tutoring, but it worked very well and was efficient.

His essay writing approach completely changed the way I wrote. I gained more confidence as I practiced and nailed down his essay tips and general structure. It was difficult to completely change the way I was used to writing essays, but I trusted Steve's techniques and by the time I sat for the bar exam, I knew I had a solid plan of attack for the essays.

His MBE approach dramatically improved my correctly answered practice MBE questions. He uses Adaptibar and instead of telling me to do 1000s of MBEs daily until my brain exploded, he had me do a reasonable amount of questions per subject. Then I would analyze each question I answered incorrectly and record why I got it wrong. During MBE day, I felt more comfortable during both sections.

Steve is an excellent tutor. He always got right down to business and helped me stay focused/calm when I had some personal issues starting to distract me from my preparation. I can honestly say he was worth every dollar. I am so thankful I did not try and save money by self-studying. I was too devastated and depressed after failing to go on my own. I needed Steve's personalized tutoring and he delivered. He has my highest recommendation.
