Thread: Anybody taken "Bar None Review"?

I took Bar None Review and it was the best decision I ever made! I just passed the California bar on my first attempt! My experience with Bar None Review was amazing. I was always able to reach a live person, always got my questions addressed and always felt like my success mattered. My friends taking other bar review courses had to wait weeks sometimes to get a graded exam returned and were never able to talk to an actual person about anything substantive. I took Bar None Review's Home Study course and I worked mostly with Professor Duncanson. But, everyone I dealt with there was great! And, most importantly, I passed!

Oh, and 4 of the 6 essays that were on the actual bar exam, were nearly identical to the exams that we took in our last simulated bar exam. She picked a transcript style evidence exam - which my friends were blown away by on the actual test - but that I found easy because I had JUST taken that same test under timed conditions about a week before. I could not have been better prepared. All I can say is that I am so happy that I took Bar None Review.

If you are repeating the CA Bar Exam, I would hire a tutor instead of just taking another review course. There are many good tutors in Los Angeles that charge by the hour and do not require lump sum payments in advance. That way, you can use a tutor for as much or as little as you need/prefer.

Ever wonder why Lisa Duncanson is not a licensed attorney in CA? Don't you think that if you go through the trouble and heartache to take and pass the bar that you would get sworn in as an attorney. You can always go on inactive status. The fact that there is no record of her on the Cal Bar Website leads me to think.....has this person ever taken the bar....or any bar? And if not, do they really know what they are talking about. BTW, Bar None Review has an F Better Business Bureau rating as of today.

Do your research before you give the scammer $$$$ it will just lead to heartache. Take what everyone else takes, Barbri and if you don't pass with Barbri or are a repeat taker, try thier essay advantage class.

For repeaters, I think private one-on-one tutoring and essay feedback is best.

Don't take this class with Lisa, she sucks and is always late and does not know what she is talking about and her instructors are past students of hers which also suck.

Why waste your money on this scammer? Why waste any of your time with her while studying for the bar? I wasted endless 8 hour days with her during my bar studies and I wished I had just gone home and studied on my own, I would have achieved the same result: BAR FAILURE.
She lives off of scamming people with her stupid templates. They are worthless. She basically plaigairzes what other, more reputable authors have written.

All of the books she uses can be bougth at a law bookstore. All of the essay questions can be found in books at the law bookstore as well, or better yet get a used Barbri Essay book (it has the same exact past essays but with better model answers).

Don't let her pull the wool over your eyes, yes she seems nice but don't trust her with your future. Taking the bar multiple times is expensive (fees for taking the bar again, bar prep, time off work, lost potential earning income as an attorney, having to defer student loans, etc.)

    Good luck.

I took the bar in Feb 07 and failed. My mom tried to help me out and found Bar None Review. She spoke with Lisa, I spoke with her, everything was great. I enrolled and got my "materials" old bar exams printed from the website and other some other supplements. I was supposed to get feedback on essays within 24-48 hours, that turned into weeks. I emailed and called everyday and never got a response from her. The girl that did answer the phone finally had it with me and got snappy at one point. Needless to say I did not pass when i retook it in July. I asked for a refund with no response. However, the small claims judge felt i did deserve a refund. Im still trying to collect.

Lisa sucks. Like the others have said, she's always late, she's non-responsive to requests, and she plagiarizes from materials from BarBri, Barpassers, and Adachi. I spent more time trying to hunt her down for a study plan and some kind of direction than I spent studying. She's a waste of money.

All of the bad things said about Lisa Duncanson here are true and totally acccurate. She really is psycho, which is probably why she has to be her own boss! (No one will put up with her BS). She pretends to be nice in the beginning then she screws you and threatens to sue anyone sharing her outlines. She is so unreliable. She started grading my essays and toward the end, just stopped responding. She promised to call us while we were taking the bar exam to answer any questions, and of course, never returned any of the calls. All she did was take my money and waste my time.

She claims to care but all she cares about is her bottom line. The F rating on the BBB is completely accurate! Don't waste your money with her. She's a total flake!

There are soooo many tutors out there for the cal bar.

Its hard to say what worked for others will work for you.

All i know is i have used bar reviews that worked wonders for me but didn't do a thing for my friends.

The key is doing practice questions and focus.

Check out craigslist in Los Angeles. Do a search "bar exam tutor" Call around.
