    Hello all,

I am taking july bar and trying to find out which prep course to take. As I am in a school a few thousand miles away from California and don't want to go through moving hassles and lose time for studying, I am looking for a good online course or self-study option. Barperfect.com (with Adaptibar for MBE) looked good to me but I would like to hear about it from someone who has first-hand experience with it. The other option seems to be the barbri iPod, which I heard has worked out well for someone.

Also, I am not sure if I really need to go to live classes regularly to increase the chance of passing the bar. If it is what it takes to pass, I am willing to move to CA right after the graduation day in mid-May.

    Any tips will be appreciated.

" passed on my 6th try!!! I am so, so happy!!! Finally, I can start to
    live!!!

If you didn't pass, take me as an example. I didn't give up. My
6th try, but I kept with it.

You might consider doing what I did.

    I used AdaptiBar and Barperfect.

I liked AdaptiBar a lot. You were timed every time you did MBEs, and you
were kept well aware of your strengths and weaknesses throughout.

I loved Barperfect for the writing. Before you start writing full-blown
essays, they have you work through about a 100 mini-hypos that are
designed to help you write analytically, not just restate the fact
pattern and write down a bunch of law. Steve Liosi gets you put your
thought process down on the page, and that is why I passed. I finally
learned to look at an essay as a problem that needed to be solved.

You can read a lot of crap about everybody on the Internet, but Tarek
Fadel (AdaptiBar) and Steve Liosi (Barperfect) were good to work with. I
like both of them a lot. I would go out of my way to talk to them
personally. It is obvious that they care about what they do. Neither of
them seems like they're in it just for the money. And both of them
know their stuff. Sometimes, Steve Liosi can get a little impatient,
but, overall, he's very willing to help.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. If you didn't pass this time, good
    luck next time."

I passed the bar exam! I was a "repeat offender" and had taken the bar multiple
times. I wanted to congratulate everyone that passed, this exam was a
particularly difficult one (in my humble opinion) so I know you will do it next
    time!

I truly believe that this exam is as much a test of knowledge of law as it is
a mental battle. In my case, the mental battle was winning. I truly wanted to
thank Pati McDermott for all her help. She was on the phone with me for HOURS
daily during the exam - and we worked together once a week before the test. She
really helped me believe that I could pass the exam AND that I WOULD pass it.
She gave me great study tools and muscle memory techniques that I wish I had in
Law School! (If you want her website it is www.nlppati.com)
(btw - she even worked with me on a payment plan!!)

BarPerfect.com was my resource for all my writing flaws.....I really learned
what the readers wanted and how to "beat the test." Steve was awesome and
really helped me become a "walking hornbook." I learned not to doubt myself and
to put my brain on the paper....

I am giving this information - not because I am receiving anything - but
because I HOPE that maybe it will help someone else because if someone had led
me in the right direction sooner - I would have had this moment sooner!

I really am glad that I finally accomplished my dream and I want all of those
"repeat offenders" to know that persistence DOES pay off....I am proof!

Please feel free to contact me if you want more information - I am just giving
out what helped for me.....I wish all of the July takers all the best!
Sounds like people like Steve Liosi. one negative comment I found by Calbarrepeater:
Steve Liosi/Barperfect has good materials and a good approach, but Mr. Liosi is
very lazy. He will spend little time with you, unless your willing to take the
17 classes at approx. $6,000.00. Even then he overbooks and does not give his
students the necessary time they need. He won't help with mbe's. Pt's hes
pretty good. Gives a couple of shortcuts, but won't show you how to outline.
Essays, not bad, and gives a very simplified way to anyalyze element by element.
If your're good at spotting issues and pulling out relevant facts, he might be
good. But, keep in mind he is going to spend with you as little time as he can
get away with. He does make you come into the office and write essays under
timed conditions. However, that writing is consider part of your class for the
day. The rest of the day, he will spend 15 minutes to 30 reviewing the essays
    you wrote.

Avoid Steve Liosi and Barperfect. Liosi is lazy and ignores his students. Once he has your money you will rarely hear from him. The materials he sends as attachments are full of typos and misstatements of law. Many of the "testimonials" you read about him are actually his own ads. Be careful about tutors generally and avoid Liosi completely.

If you are a first-timer, go with BarBri and if at all possible, go to a live class. I did mine at Pepperdine. It was perfect because I just went to their library right after class, and it was open until 10pm, so it forced me to study, and
I didn't have to interrupt my day by commuting from class to another location for studying.

Definitely go with BarBri if it's your first-time. You only need to look to alternative methods if you are a repeater. If you are a repeater, the best thing to do is to hire a tutor to figure out why you failed and how to fix it.

My name is Simon Lea. I really feel I need to tell you about this wonderful product I have found. About 5 years ago I had to make myself bankrupt. It was a terrible time with some awful feelings going on. The worse experience I had was that one day I had a full on panic attack. - I had no idea what was happening at the time and thought I was having a heart attack and was about to die. You can read my full story on this website How to stop panic attacks | panic attack cure | NLP | stop panic attacks cd | It never happened to me so badly again (probably because I knew what it was after I had literally run to the doctors!!) Unfortunately once my body had learned how to do it I had repeated attacks, on a daily basis - often more than once a day! (they did die down after a while) I also developed what I later found to be OCD - worrying I would hurt my family and having horrible thoughts, this was a horrendous time but incredibly it is all over now!! - thanks to a friend who recommended Debbie Williams to me. I got her CD - stop panic attacks, and pretty much after one listen - (although I did listen many more times) I was cured!! - I felt no more panic and I have not suffered at all for about 2 years now. It changed my life so much that I asked Debbie (I went to see her about other stuff after finding her so wonderful - hence finding the OCD issue out!) if I could tell other people about the CD and set up a side line selling it for her - and hear I am - telling you - if you are suffering from panic attacks - don't think about it - click the link and get it - it will change your life for the better - for good! How to stop panic attacks | panic attack cure | NLP | stop panic attacks cd | - Thank you for reading this, Good Luck!! Simon Lea
