Brian Siegel is the most successful associate recruiter in California, and we are now pleased to have him with BCG Attorney Search. In 1999 and 2000, he placed more than 30 associates each year. In 2001, Brian placed 26 associates, and in 2002 and 2003 (despite a very "down" market), he placed 19 and 17, respectively.
A Columbia Law School grad, he's authored the 12-set series of books entitled Siegel's Answers to Essay and Multiple-choice Questions and the PMBR Flashcards. In addition, Brian is also the author of "How to Succeed in Law School," which was published as part of the Barrons Educational Series. He also wrote the PMBR Essay Workbook and taught a pre-law prep class for seven years.

From Brian
We may have, in a manner of speaking, already met. I'm the author of Siegel's Answers to Essay and Multiple-choice Questions series and the PMBR Flashcards. If you ever purchased any of these items while in law school or when studying for the Bar Exam, I'm already indebted to you.
If you're considering a move, and most associates eventually do, I hope you'll consult me. If you had an important legal matter, you wouldn't select the first attorney you happened to meet. You would choose the best in that particular area of law. In 1999, I had 31 individual associate placements; in 2000, the number was 33. In 2001, I placed 26. In 2002 and 2003, during a particularly difficult economy, I placed 19 and 17 respectively. I'm confident that no other recruiter has been so successful.
These RESULTS are attributable to several factors:
As a result of the foregoing, I receive many referrals from former candidates.
- I've seen the legal hiring process from almost every angle. I practiced law for 11 years, was a Bar Review lecturer for 12 years, and have been a legal recruiter since 1986. I speak with a Hiring Partner or Recruitment Coordinator virtually every day.
- We know who's looking. To the best of my knowledge, we're the only legal search firm that employs someone to spend 4-5 workdays per week staying on top of job orders. We methodically cover companies and law firms from Sacramento to San Diego. We typically know about positions that other search firms don't. We also sometimes find out valuable information about a firm from candidates we're currently servicing.
- I'll do everything possible to help. This includes: reviewing and revising your resume (I often find that candidates have not presented their case in the most forceful manner possible), strategizing on how to best accomplish your objectives, prepping you for interviews (Recruitment Coordinators advise me that my candidates are always well prepared), and finding out what went wrong if an offer isn't made. The old adage that a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link certainly applies to the lateral hiring process.
- I'm responsive to your questions and concerns. Calls are ordinarily returned the same day. There's no "telephone silence" if we're not immediately successful.
- I won't do anything without your okay. I'll only send your resume to the firms or companies which you've specifically authorized. You want to retain control of the process, and I want to maintain my reputation.
