hi, i'm licensed in texas, and i'm taking the il bar this february. i have mbe materials, and i'm not taking a review course. however, finding past essays and answers is murder. i don't know any of this IE/MEE stuff (texas just made essay topics up to be as cruel as possible), so i REALLY need to find this material. can someone, anyone, direct me to where i can find the essays FOR FREE or reasonably cheap? thanks!
I understand your frustration. IL has not made its old bar exams available for years. Not sure why.
Try to get 2008 or 2009 bar/bri books from eBay or chicago.craigslist. I saw a few people selling books that included IL specific essay questions.
Also, try checking the web sites or calling the law library at some of the law schools in IL to see what they recommend. Most of the law schools in IL have bar prep sections on their web sites.
The only other thing I can think of is if you're near Chicago and want a little "live" help, try the MLER program at Northwestern. http://www.mler.org/ Not a full blown bar course but could be used to fill in the gaps for the IL essay section.
