Thread: How do I know which tutor is the best for me?

I am taking the NY bar exam in 2008, and I am thinking about getting a tutor for it. My question is, how do I know which tutor to go with?

Get an experienced tutor whom you can work with
Four points: First, experience counts, not just tutoring for the bar exam, but also teaching law in small groups, especially basic legal analysis and writing. In general, the more the better. Second, find a tutor with whom you can have a comfortable working relationship. A teacher who brings enthusiasm to the job is a big plus. Third, the tutor must be ready to customize his or her instruction to your needs. One size fits all is for the big bar preparation courses. Fourth, consider the fee. Bigger fees may not be evidence of greater professional competence, but just an indication of high overhead. A smaller fee gives you more time with the tutor for the same money.
