Recently my niece started asking me if she should go to law school. She doesn't seem like she's as enthusiastic as I was, but from the things she [kind of] like, it seems like law stands out. I'm not sure... so my question is if there is a guideline as to how you know if law school suits you? I am open to any kind of guidelines from quizzes to summer schools
SAT verbal, logic, legal writing
Do you enjoy talking logically instead of emotionally?
Do you enjoy legal writing and not just creative writing?
Did you do well on SAT verbal?
Do you enjoy detail oriented works
Do you not mind long hours? like 12 hours a day and no breaks for like... en... 4 years
If you answered yes to 80% of the questions, then you probably would enjoy being an attorney
Read some law school text books
Tell her to go to the library or check online to see if there are samples of law school text books. Show her your notes and materials... She might find that she cannot sit through even one chapter of your text books. OR she might love it and see herself studying it.
During summer, maybe she can intern as a paralegal to see if she likes the environment.
That will be sure to let her know if she likes it or not
