How long is the best preparation time for bar exam? Will we forget everything if we start too early? but if we start too late, then we don't have time for everything.

I think honing your skill on issue spotting and reading comprehension needs to get started as early as possible. However, starting 3 months before the bar exam starts is more than enough. The schedule given by barbri (usually lasts about 2-2.5 months) is a little rushed. I would start reading the outlines/study material 3 months before the exam so that when the bar review class starts you can understand everything the lecture goes over and focus on the test taking techniques.
As pinky stated, start first by honing in on your exam writing skills and test taking skills. Leave yourself as much time as you need for this.
I would not spend more than 3 months studying substantive material, as it's easy to forget. So much of the bar is memorization.
Basically, I would not spend more than 3 months, unless you want specific help working on essay or exam strategies.
Good Luck!
