Thread: ILLINOIS Bar Exam Essays---help!!

  1.   ILLINOIS Bar Exam Essays---help!! #1
Hi...I am starting my studying for the IL bar. I failed the bar in 2003, and have not yet went back to take it again. Better late than never! I am in the process of organizing my materials, and I notice that as of July 2007, the Illinois state essays are not the way they used to be --- Barbri used to teach that you can expect 2 IL civ pro, and 1 equity question. Now it looks as if ALL the topics are on the IEE list as well! AH! Can anyone who took the most recent exams tell me what topics their essays were??

    Thank you!!

The topics on the IL Essays were: Contracts (Offer/Acceptance, Statute of Frauds, and Penalty v. Liquidated Damages Clause), IL Civil Procedure (long arm statute and service of process), and Wills (ademption involving real property after contract signed but before closing and interested witnesses).

The MPT involved writing a memo about misrepresentation that required the drafting of causes of action for a complaint.

The MEE topics were: Partnership (whether a creditor of a partner can reach and/or manage the partnership), Contracts (damages calculation/restitution), Commercial Paper (HDC, employer giving employee permission to sign checks), Torts/Con Law (First Amendment defenses to Defamation, Trespass and Invasion of privacy), Federal Jurisdiction (joinder of parties/claims), and Property (Landlord/Tenant issues- what kind of tenancy and how/when it can terminate and assignment of rights).
