Is it possible to prepare and do well on the Multistate Performance Test without a prep-course, and if so what is the best way to do it.

I think one could prepare for the MPT without a review course if you had access to the BarBri MPT study book. Basically, you just need to see how a question looks and how answers are set up for the different kinds of questions they ask (produce a closing argument, an office memo, an advice letter, etc.) The key to doing the MPT is doing a number of samples and comparing to the sample answer.
