I was wondering if anyone here took the NC bar exam on laptop, and if they'd share the experience with us all. What's it like? Thanks!

NC also uses examsoft, like many other states, and that means you will be typing into a software that looks like microsoft word, with the very basic functions.
Before the exam day, you will have to play with a simulation that will let you know exactly what the examsoft will be like on the day of the exam. Typing an exam is so much easier especially if you are a good typer. The problem is that in the "computer room" you will have to hear other people's typing sounds and for some people that is hard to bear.
Also, if you have an old computer or a computer that often runs into problems, then you may consider not to do it. If your computer functions well and you feel comfortable typing, then of course computer is better b/c you can type up all your issues and then go back and fill in the blanks fairly easily
Good luck!
Laura:
Thanks for the reply! Here's a dopey question (I can't help it though, I'm a little paranoid): There are plenty of outlets, right? My Dell's battery stinks, so I'm a little concerned about that. Also, the Examsoft site says the copy/paste function is something that's only allowed if your jurisdiction will allow it. Does NC?
Thanks again!

NC Bar, i am foreign trained lawyer am i qualified to sit in NC Bar without going to law school again?
1) First question, it depends on if your school is recognized by the Council of the North Carolina State Bar. A list of the approved law schools is available in the office of the Secretary.
The official rule is:
Now, most foreign attorneys don't do the NC bar simply b/c it is too hard to find a job for foreign attorneys in NC. i don't know your situation, maybe you already have a job. Otherwise, you should still get a NY bar/CA bar if you are a foreign attorney.Every applicant applying for admission to practice law in the State of North Carolina, before being granted a license to practice law, shall prove to the satisfaction of the Board that said applicant has graduated from a law school approved by the Council of The North Carolina State Bar or that said applicant will graduate within thirty (30) days after the date of the written bar examination from a law school approved by the Council of the North Carolina State Bar. There shall be filed with the Secretary a certificate of the dean, or other proper official of said law school, certifying the date of the applicant's graduation. A list of the approved law schools is available in the office of the Secretary.
2) Second, this coming up Feb 2008 exam will be at N.C. State Fairgrounds Exposition Center and JS Dorton Arena
I didn't rely on an outlet on my exam, and I don't believe they have a plug for everyone, but I am not sure. Please call
