Hi, I heard some some changes, but minor, were made to the ABA Model Rules and Model Code in 2007. So my question is if anyone knows about it and how would that affect my chances of passing if i studied from a 2006-2007 edition for the exam in Aug 2008? Thanks. Category: MPRE |

I assume you are referring to the Judicial Ethics (CJC 2007) changes? It is tough to say how tested it will be given this is only the second time they are testing on the new material, but I personally wouldn't take the risk. Updated outlines and lectures are fairly reasonable to come by online (google: mpre cjc 2007) |

Hi, I am sitting next week and using an old book (2006 BarBri). I also have the 2008 lectures from BarBri. There is not much difference at all, other than the categories where Judges cannot be biased has been extended. It's very much common sense. Stick with the book you have, do the practice tests and you will be grand. Bear in mind also that there is only about 5 or 6 questions re judicial ethics on the exam so even if you got all of the wrong, you would pass anyway. And the changes are so small, you will get the answers correct with a bit of cop on. That's my take on it having studied the old book and listened to the recent lectures. |

thank you guys for your input. so i guess i'll stick tothe BarBri book 2006...read that with the practice exams in it. Are the BarBri lectures additinally helpful because i only have the book. I know the exam isnt all that tough (or soi i've been told) but i really dont want ot take it again. Also is there or are there certain sections which i should concentrate especially on because for the NY bar exam, BarBri told us what areas to concentrate on and much as i hate to admit it (i hate the BarBri staff) it really helped. thanks

Well in terms of the lecture - this is really a summary of the review section in the BarBri book so there is no need to get your hands on it. All areas are pretty much covered off from what i can see with no real emphasis on a certain topic/area, but BarBri do break down the % of questions in each area with 12% being the most frequently tested on the exam. I really don'd know though as I am only sitting it myself for the first time next week. At this stage I just want to sit it and be done with it. I did the NCBE sample IV last night and only got 3 wrong out of 150 so I am hoping the exam is along the same lines. Although I have heard conflicting stories about it being easier than BarBri and NCBE Sample and also that it is much more difficult. Anyone's guess! Good luck |

Friends say no surprises and confidently feel they passed. Consistent message is If you retained the basics and scored fairly well with MPRE Questions than you should be in good shape. |

I did all 4 BarBri practice tests, with the second being the most like the exam. BarBri was not great though. I also did the Bar Outlines review course a few days prior to the exam and their two practice tests with the second one being right on the money in terms of difficulty and also one or two came up on the actual exam. I would be shocked if I didn't pass and get a high enough score also.
