Thread: Retaking the NY bar

  1.   Retaking the NY bar #1
I am retaking the ny bar. I missed it by mere points but, I think one of my major problems was not doing enough problems and doing a lot of reading instead. I have changed my format, but I would like to know if someone else who also studied like I did and changed their format passed the second time. I am not getting a tutor or taking another prep course except for the barbri and pmbr materials that I used before (no money). I am considering signing up with adaptibar, but only if i finish the mbe questions on pmbr. I would like to get suggestions. Besides, getting a tutor is very expensive and a face to face tutor is nearly impossible since I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. If there's anybody out there in SLC that can help, I'd like to meet them. Thanks.

  2.   changing your format can help you pass the bar #2
hi, I did not take the NY bar, but the same thing happened to me when I took the IL bar. I failed the first time by a few points b/c I did not do enough practice. I panicked on the exam and could not organize issue the right way.

the second time, I practiced so much that I could spot issues so fast, and I highlighted all the keywords. On top of the old barbri materials, I also personalized the outlines provided by baroutlines.com to assist with my study. Most importantly, I outlined as many as essay questions in the Barbri essay book as I could.

Underline your keywords, organize your issues, and practice your essays/MBE questions will really really help.. Good luck!
