Thread: The Study Group bar course

Does anyone know if the Study Group bar course is good for a self study course?
I'm taking Missouri Bar Exam in Febr. 2009 and the self study ipod course with BarBri is 4k! I think its extremely expensive. I do have and already went one time through the BarBri mini conviser for the MBE, and I was thinking of an alternative to BarBri self course, because I do not live in Missouri. And Micromash does not have a course for the essay substantive part. Any thoughts, please?

Mixed reviews on them. (seems to be a 50 / 50 mix)

Also, The Study Group just got purchased by Kaplan/PMBR so not sure what that means to the product or the cost, just that they are in a bit of change at the moment.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I may end up taking BarBri..
So is BarBri all that good as they say?

Did anyone actually take the Study Group Bar Review so far that can share their experience?

I took the Study Group bar review for the July 2010 CA bar. I used only their written materials and did not utilize any practice essays or use any atty support or whatever. I didn't even listen to most of the lectures except the few that were truly CA specific. I passed, probably by a big margin since I felt very good after the exam. I had taken Bar Bri successfully in two other states and felt Study Group was not as thorough and the typos were ridiculous, but on the whole it worked just fine. Hell of a lot cheaper. It had what you needed to know. Some people may need more guidance and coaching than I did but for someone who is good at test taking it should work fine.
