Thread: substantive laws covered in CA bar exam

I am a lawyer admitted in other country and planning to take the CA bar exam in Feb. 09. considering that CA and federal laws are new to me, what materials should I read discussing substantive law covered by the exam?.. I am also planning to have online review program, could online review program teach substantive laws or they will just provide techniques on how to pass the bar?

I am very concern on this because I believe that knowledge about the law is more than techniques to pass the bar.. knowledge first then technique. PLSS. HELP.. I would appreciate it.

online review courses usually provide the substantive law you need to pass the bar. Barbri and Micromash are the biggest review courses that also offer online review on top of live-class review.

Federal law is still tested heavily although Ca now test state specific laws. In short, you should look for the style and quality of online review classes. I personally thought Micromash was not bad.
