I took Tina Post's Essay Advantage class

I'm still waiting for July 2007 results so I can't say yet whether her method is successful, or whether it is worth the extra money to hire her as a tutor as opposed to taking the class (which I believe is much cheaper). Her personal style is very abrasive, however if you respond well to "boot camp" style motivation then it could work for you. Her approach is to: 1) memorize basic rule statements for bread and butter rules of law that are usually tested. 2) teach how to write real analysis as opposed to just repeating the facts from the question. 3) include exceptions, policy statements or nuances to add depth to your rule statements, with the aim of getting you out of the "re-read" pile.

Again, I have not found out whether I passed and I'm a first-time taker, but I'll say going into the exam I felt comfortable and prepared writing the essays.

I think she is a barbri grader

I believe she does the Essay Advantage program for BarBri. If I'm correct, you might be able to contact her through them. Just make sure that she will have enough time for you because barbri keeps their graders pretty busy. Also, if you are taking Barbri, make sure you ask for some kind of discount if you do it through her instead of barbri, etc. good luck

My friend passed after working with her. I think I am going to take the plunge since I can't afford to lose my job if I don't pass.

Has anybody taken her performance workshop?

No. I received no substantive feedback, beyond learning that what I was doing was wrong. (I didn't need to pay $3,000 to learn that...that one I actually knew before hiring her). Continually during out meeting, I said that I wanted to review performance exams, and she said that mine were fine and I didn't need to review them. Then the Sunday before the bar exam, Tina and I had our last meeting and she looked at one of my performance exams and told me that she was really worried about my writing on them. This was the worst $3,000 I have ever spent.

I would not recommend her. Though I passed after taking her course, I think I passed in spite of her, not because of her. She went through the first subjects slowly and then rushed us through five subjects in the last week or so, making the process far more stressful than it had to be. On the day of the test, I did not feel anywhere close to prepared, though my friends who worked with other tutors (and paid less) felt much better about their chances of passing on test day than I did.

Also, she gives NO materials in exchange for her ridiculously inflated rates. She is full of herself (which explains how she can justify her rates), so she doesn't take any criticism of her course well. Though her feedback was helpful, I think I could have gotten it elsewhere for far less $ with a more organized tutor that could have scheduled the course effectively.
