![]() | What You Need to Know About the 2009 Ohio Bar Exam
The Ohio Bar Exam is a 2 1/2-day exam -- Tuesday, Wednesday, and a half-day on Thursday -- with the essays and performance questions on Tuesday, the multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam on Wednesday, and additional essays on Thursday. First Day (Tuesday): * Six Essay Questions * One 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) Question Second Day (Wednesday) morning session: * Three hours * Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) * 100 Multiple-Choice questions. Second Day (Wednesday) afternoon session: * Three hours * Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) * 100 Multiple-Choice questions. Ohio requires that you sit for the MBE as part of the Ohio bar exam. Ohio does NOT accept your score from an MBE taken in another jurisdiction. Grading of the Ohio Bar Exam: Your score on the MBE counts for 1/3 of your total score. Your performance on the essay questions and the MPT counts for 2/3 of your total score. Ohio generally releases the results of the Summer exam in early November and the results of the Winter exam in early May. *MPRE Minimum: 85 Admission on Motion: (i.e., without having to sit for the bar exam) 1. You must be a graduate of an ABA-accredited law school. 2. You must have passed the bar exam in another jurisdiction and been admitted to the bar. 3 You must have actively practiced law full-time outside Ohio for at least five of the prior 10 years. 4.
