What You Need to Know About the 2010 Nevada Bar Exam

The Nevada Bar Exam is a 2-1/2-day exam -- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday -- with the essays and performance questions on Tuesday, the multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam on Wednesday, and more essays on Thursday.

First Day (Tuesday):
* Four Essay Questions (60-minutes each)
* One 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) Question

Second Day (Wednesday) morning session:
* Three hours
* Multistate Bar Examination (MBE)
* 100 Multiple-Choice questions.

Second Day (Wednesday) afternoon session:
* Three hours
* Multistate Bar Examination (MBE)
* 100 Multiple-Choice questions.

Third Day (Thursday) :
* Four Essay Questions (60-minutes each)

Nevada requires that you sit for the MBE as part of the Nevada bar exam. Nevada does NOT accept your score from an MBE taken in another jurisdiction.

Grading of the Nevada Bar Exam:
MBE: 1/3 Written Portion: 2/3 Your scores on the MBE and the written portion are combined for an overall score. To pass, you need a total scaled score of 75 or higher and a converted score of 75 or higher on at least three written questions. Nevada generally releases the results of the bar exam in mid-October.

*MPRE -- The Nevada bar requires that you pass the MPRE (scaled score of 85 or higher) "no earlier than three years preceding the year in which the applicant passes the Nevada bar examination and no later than three years after the year in which the applicant passes the Nevada bar examination.

Admission on Motion: Nevada does NOT permit admission on motion. To be admitted to the Nevada bar, you must take and pass the Nevada bar exam.
