![]() | Re: Hello there If you are using self study, might I suggest supplementing that with either a weekend prep course (Such as http://www.emanuelbarprep.com/, coming up in NY (At Fordham, the 16-18)) Or supplementing with a tutor, to help keep you on track. LawTutors has tutors in NY, visit www.lawtutors.net. Good Luck! This is a great forum!

![]() | Re: Hello there I am using barbri notes and notes from previous students which I dowloaded. I have also subscribed for the online MBE 2006 questions available from NBCE website. I also subscribed for the SOLS software for the MBE. these 2 are amazing for practising questions. I would very much like to attend courses but there aren't any courses avaialbe where i live. the courses are conducted in London and i live in the midlands. furthermore, the courses are expensive. ![]() | Re: Hello there Hey Karl, I recently sat the NY bar exam, based on foreign study from Australia. From the onset it can be done, but be prepared that it is vastly different to what you will be used to. Firstly while you should know some case law to assist in your understanding of legal principles the law you have to know is largely codified so much of it will be parrot learning concepts. In terms of the "laws themselves" the principles are similar but the jargon is different and you will have to get used to so pretty substantial departures for UK Common Law. In the end though if you study hard enough understanding the concepts is not too bad. The hardest thing is the essay's themselves. I am convinced that the writing style is completely different in the US. You will have to get rid of your "whilst", "herein" and "notwithstanding" as you will be a dead give away as a foreign attorney for the markers. For that reason alone I would get some "human" feedback on your essays. That is the most important part of it. If you have some friends in the US by all means get them to take a look but otherwise I would reccommend someone who will give feedback on essays. Hope that helps |

![]() | Re: Hello there Hi milko2026 Thanks for the advice. I am trying to memorise the Master Essay from the website seperac which was developed by someone from US. Hope this will help. I have looked at past year essays from 2000 till 2007 and I am okay with them. My main concern is the MBE. Is there anyone else out there from the UK or any other part of the world doing the exams in July 2008? Karl |

![]() | Re: Hello there Hi Karl, My name is Darren and I'm sitting the exams in July myself... I'm from Ireland and to be honest fairly intimidated by the thought of taking the exam but also excited in a way.... I'm doing the Micromash home study course and it;s got a good software system to practise MBE q's.I was advised to read the condensed outlines in relation to the 6 mbe subjects and just practise the mbe q's on the software. What I am confused with is the essay part... The materials for the 15-22 subjects is quitevast and I would like to know how ppl studied for the essay portion of the exam. Also do ppl tink that if I have two full months off work to study for the exam, is that enough to sufficiently study for the NY exam. Cheers, Darren |

![]() | Re: Hello there Hi Darren Have you tried visiting seperac.com website. It gives you an up todate version on do and dont's. As for the Essay there are hot and cold topics. some questions like corporation, Criminal and torts frequently appear all the time. What I have done is revise the black letter law , barbri outline, and downloaded the past year exam questions on an MP3 player and listen to it all the time. The past year year questions are very helpful. i noticed that the way to answer the Essay questions are using the ILAC I-dentifying the issue, Stating the L-aw, A-pplying the Law and C-onclusion. My worry is the MBE constitutional law questions which are confusing. i prractive the SOL software (passwrite) and also past year 2006 MBE exam question which you can subscribe from the NCBE website. How long have u been studing for it?...My only fear is that I don't have enough time left, I have two full months off and I just hope it's enough for the exam. I'm using the Micromash materials for the MBE and I have to say their quite good nd I would advise you to get it if you could. Regards, Darren |
