hi, I am taking the bar exam in Feb 2008, and I was wondering how many essay outlines or full blown answers do I have to do to pass the bar?

You should do as many as humanly possible. You don't have to do all of them, but practice makes perfect in bar exam world. I passed MA and I'm going to take Feb 08 NY! I think it's more important to practice essays and MBE questions than it is to sit there and read outlines. In fact, you will learn the law much better (for bar exam purposes of course) by practicing essay questions and MBE questions than you will by simply reviewing an outline, or making one from your bar exam course. Making outlines is important, but it's more important to actually practice. This way you learn the law the way they want you to write it on the bar exam!

I would reccommend outlining 1-3 per day (more on the 3-4 end come Feb. 1) and for every 3-4 you outline fully write out one complete answer (come Feb. 1 write out 1-2 per day).

you need to get comfortable with the time it takes and the organization of it-- not to mention issue spotting and pulling law from memory.

Also, the Saturday and Sunday before your bar exam, do the following. Physically get up, leave your house and go to a library. As close to 9 a.m. as possible on Saturday, physically do 100 MBE questions under the same time constraints you would do the actual exam (morning 100 MBE questions). Then use the second part of the afternoon to go over all the answers. On Sunday, physically get up, leave your house and do however many essay questions you will have to do in the morning (give full answers under the same time constraints as test day) and spend the afternoon going over your answers. If your state does essays the first day, then reverse these instructions. This puts you in a test frame of mind and is a great way to practice to really see where you are right before the test. In fact, you can do it the week before the Saturday/Sunday before your exam if you really want to test yourself (you can do this both weekends before I mean)! Good luck!
