![]() | I passed FL portion but failed MBE. Should I retake both or just the MBE? So I am not sure whether I should study for both in the hopes that the FL score will raise my overall score or whether I should forget about the FL bar and use the extra time to improve my MBE performance. What do you guys think. Anyone been in a similar situation? |

In Florida, after July 2004, you get to elect to be graded by an overall method or an individual method: The Overall Method may be utilized only by applicants who submit to Parts A and B during the same administration of the General Bar Examination. A passing grade under this method would be an average scaled score of 136 or better, or such score as may be set by the Supreme Court of Florida. The Individual Method may be utilized by those applicants who passed one part of the examination previously and elect to retake only the part previously failed. Applicants must achieve a passing score on each part taken. Effective July 1, 2004, a scaled score of 136, or such score as may be set by the Supreme Court of Florida, is passing. I will just forget about the FL portion Unless your FL essay is so high that you can pull the average to 136, I would just focus on MBE and only MBE. I have improved my score by over 20 points (126 -146) by putting more time on it. I simply practiced more, reviewed my mistakes more, and then practiced more. I think you should give that method a try, putting all your time on MBE and try to just get that to 136, which is really doable if you have proven your ability to know the rules by passing the essay portion. Good luck! Please let us know how well you did on your essay!! cuz' I think that makes a huge difference, too. |
