My cousin just found out that she is 4 weeks pregnant, which means that she will be still in her first trimester when the bar exam comes up. Do you guys think she should go ahead and get the refund and try it next time or do you think she will be ok?

Any hearsay welcomed, but personal experience will be very highly appreciated!!

My wife and I have been trying for a child. We just found out that she has a blighted ovum (our baby has no heartbeat).

There is a lot of stress in preparing and taking the exam, I don't think it is a good idea to risk it.

Agreed. Bar exams come and go, but the child (and your health) are much more important.

Hi,

Do the exam, it's only a 6 weeks away. She won't have the opportunity to do it once the baby arrives, well, for the first year or so anyway. I have 3 children so I come to this with experience. This will be the quietiest time of your lives so grasp it while you can, get the bar over with and enjoy the fruits of your labour with your new child.

That's my advice anyway.

I've known a number of gals that were preggo during bar study and the exam and they survived. If your body lets you, you might as well try.
I agree that it will much more difficult to tackle the exam with a toddler. Take a stab at it now.

While I'll refrain from advisinng one way or the other, I will say that it is policy to seat pregnant bar candidates nearer the bathrooms (seriously)

I vote for a "go" b/c there is never a good time to have a child and never a good time to take the bar exam. You just have to do it. So try her luck! Unless, of course, she shows early symptom of throwing up and severe morning sickness, then maybe not.

thanks guys. She decided to stay at home and just take a year off. I kind of agree with you guys, but it's her body so... thanks again for your help

Not at all dude - it's a great time for all. Whatever she decides just go with it. You have to keep the women happy, especially when pregnant.
