Virginia requires that you sit for the MBE as part of the Virginia bar exam.

Virginia does NOT accept your score from an MBE taken in another jurisdiction.

Grading of the Virginia Bar Exam: Your score on the MBE counts for 40% of your total score. Your performance on the essays and short-answer questions counts for 60% of your total score.

Virginia generally releases the results of the Summer exam in mid- to late-October and the results of the Winter exam in late April.

*MPRE --Virginia requires a scaled score of 85.

Your score will be accepted by Virginia only if you take the MPRE during the time period beginning two calendar years before, and ending two calendar years after, the calendar year in which you take and pass the general Virginia Bar Exam.

Admission on Motion: (i.e., without having to sit for the bar exam)
For admission on motion, you must be admitted to practice in a jurisdiction that grants admission on motion to Virginia attorneys.
